20.3: Frequently Asked Questions

This section answers the distinctions that most often cause configuration or delivery mistakes. Follow the linked lessons when you need the complete procedure.

Content And Layout

What is the difference between a presentation and a lesson?

A presentation is the native item you create, edit, share, publish, export, and assign. “Lesson” describes that content in a learning context—for example, a presentation assigned to a class becomes a class lesson. The same presentation can be previewed by an author, opened as a public learning experience, assigned to a class, or exported to an LMS.

What is the difference between Slide Layout and Fluid Layout?

Slide Layout uses a fixed-size canvas and is best when exact object placement matters. Fluid Layout creates a vertically scrolling, web-like experience with a maximum content width. Fluid content adapts more naturally to different widths, but authors must still preview it on the target devices. See Building Slides And Layouts.

Can I change the layout after I start?

You can change presentation layout settings, but fixed-position content does not automatically become a well-designed responsive lesson. Preview every slide and repair overlaps, spacing, and reading order after a change.

Assessment And Attempts

What is the difference between completion and success?

Completion answers whether the learner did enough of the assigned activity, such as viewing the required portion. Success answers whether the learner met the score threshold. A learner can complete a lesson without passing it. See Configure Presentation Settings.

Can learners retry a lesson?

Yes, when another attempt is allowed. Presentation attempt settings set the general behavior, while a class assignment can apply its own Max Attempts value. After final submission, Try again appears only when the current context permits another attempt. See Complete And Review Attempts.

Why is a learner result missing?

The learner may have practiced outside the intended class, not finalized the attempt, used an environment that does not report to uPresenter, or been recorded anonymously. First confirm the delivery link and submission state, then review Reports And Analytics.

Export And Delivery

What is the difference between xAPI, SCORM 1.2, and SCORM 2004?

The best choice depends on the receiving LMS or LRS. Confirm its required format before exporting, then follow Export eLearning Packages.

Does a PDF or image export track learner results?

No. PDF and image files are visual outputs and do not run the interactive tracking logic used by the hosted player, xAPI, or SCORM packages.

Collaboration, Recovery, And Discovery

Can another author collaborate with me in real time?

Yes. Invite a collaborator with a role that permits editing. Editors share the live document and automatic saves; commenters and viewers cannot make the same content changes. See Collaboration, Comments, And Version History.

Can I restore deleted content?

An owned presentation can be restored while it remains in Trash. Permanent deletion and Empty trash are irreversible through the normal interface. Version History is separate: it lets eligible collaborators inspect or restore earlier saved versions of a presentation that still exists. See Presentation Actions and Use Version History.

How does a public presentation appear in Inspiration?

Public access alone is not enough. The author must configure the presentation for public discovery, provide the required discovery details, and meet the current public-profile and reusable-content conditions. Publication can still be shared without making the item reusable. See Sharing, Publishing, And Public Profiles.

Plans, Credits, And Access

Which features require Pro, and which use credits?

Pro controls access to plan-gated capabilities. Credits are consumed by supported AI operations. Having credits does not unlock a Pro-only export, and Pro access does not mean AI work is unlimited. The active workspace supplies the relevant plan and credit pool. See Manage Subscription And Billing and Understand And Use Credits.

Why can two team members see different controls?

They may have different roles, presentation permissions, active workspaces, Terms states, or learner/author views. Compare those states before assuming that the accounts have different product versions.
